Critique project 3
go over final project (info below)
FINAL PROJECT
The final project (in lieu of an exam) constitutes submitting a proposal and a final work to "Pink Fluorescence" the winter quarter juried showcase of Art + Technology undergraduate and graduate students working in new media, hybrid forms, video, holography, 2D/3D animation/modeling, robotics, sound, digital imaging and web-based works.
Working from your own personal artistic interests, you are expected to create a significant digital artwork, or series of works, that are presented outside of the computer. The concept of your work should inform the way it is presented. The work could be printed using the large-format inkjet printer in Hopkins 184, printed by a company or local print shop, made into a book, made into a video and projected, transferred onto another surface such as fabric, incorporated into a web-based work, etc. Your work must be professionally presented and ready for easy installation - wired and framed in a way that makes sense for your work. You must be available to install your own work if it requires any type of special installation.
Your Final Project Proposal should describe the main ideas you are having, questions you are asking and the ways you plan to make them visible in your project. What do you plan to do? What artists and/or thinkers are influencing your ideas? Why does this particular subject interest you? Why is it appropriate to address this subject matter through digital imaging? How will your project be original? What do you imagine the end result will look like? How will you arrange the elements of your work to best convey your ideas?
Proposals are tools of creativity. It is expected that ideas will change and evolve along the way. As long as the finished product is strong, you may deviate from the initial proposal.
What to turn in: AT LEAST ONE FULL PAGE OF TEXT. Please follow proper grammar, punctuation and spelling and type your name at the top of the page. Turn in a print copy of your typed proposal at the beginning of class Thursday 3/5. In addition, art+tech is asking each student to contribute $4 cash to the exhibition refreshments fund.
